AEG History
Emil Rathenau was the founder of AEG who purchased the patents and founded the German Edison Society in Berlin, which was then, renamed General Electricity Society (Allgemeine Elektrizitaets-Gesellschaft) in 1887, the AEG name was born and they never looked back! AEG understood the importance of design even in the companies early days and was one of the first industrial companies to employ a designer, Peter Behrens who in 1907 was commissioned to design not only factories but also a line of appliances.
