Built In Ovens
Almost all mainstream manufacturers have a choice of ovens, and they come in a variety of configurations. The most popular version is the built in single oven, but you can also have double built in and double built under ovens (underneath the worktop). The fuel choices are either electric or gas, with electric being the most popular by far. White, stainless steel and black are the favoured colours.
Hobs
Unless you have a range cooker then you will need some sort of hob in your kitchen. The selection is better than ever, ranging from ceramic, induction and gas with widths varying from 30cm up to 90cm. The gas hobs have burners, usually 4 or 5. The same number of zones appliances to electric models. Specialist manufacturers offer extra kinds of hob, including domino hobs that let you choose 2 or 3 different hobs that line up on the worksurface, giving great flexibility when cooking.
Cookers
For many years cookers have been the most common UK cooking appliance, they are freestanding and easy to move, dont need installing (apart from connection of electric/gas) and have many different options. There are a choice of colours, white, black and grey are most sought after. Cooker can be either single or double cavities, and have either a seperate grill or a grill inside a cavity (although there are some versions with no grill at all).
Range Cooker
An outstanding feature for any kitchen, range cookers can suit traditional or modern, even classic style homes. Range's are usally the preferred kind of cooking appliances for the larger family, as they have more oven space and up to 8 burners or zones for the hob. Steel is the in colour right now, although many people also opt for the classy gloss black that brands have on offer (to suit a contemporary gloss kitchen).

To take away the smells and grease, a cooker hood is vital, and you can now choose from a huge different number of extractors. Chimney hoods look smart and do the job well. They vary in price from £100 up past £1000, depending on the manufacturer, extraction rate (measured in db (decibels)), and finish. Glass canopy models tend to be slightly more dear but look fantastic. Integrated hoods hide away from site, as do canopy hoods and visor cooker hoods (to an extent- just a small part sticks out above). Island extractors hang from the ceiling and are designed to offer a choice when your hob or cooker is in the centre of the kitchen away from the wall.

They sometimes need a trim kit, however some models just slide into place or have the trim kit included.
