With a freezer in your kitchen, you are able to make your food last longer instead of throwing it out to the garbage bin to go to waste. It is intended to increase the shelf life of foodstuffs by lowering the rate at which bacteria that cause food spoilage are produced.

Since freezers are available in many varieties made by different manufacturers and with different features, you need to do a little comparison in price, size and performance of the freezer before you eventually acquire one. It is not easy to single out a certain type or model of a freezer to be the best because consumer needs are completely different.

The modern freezers are fitted with an automatic defrosting feature that automatically thaws excessive ice so as not to reduce the performance of the freezer. This saves you the trouble caused by the traditional freezers where you had to manually thaw the ice.

Automatic ice cubes have been integrated in to the modern freezers so that you do not have to place ice trays in to freezer to form the ice cubes. Whenever you need ice cubes, you just open the freezer and get them from the automatic ice compartments.

Some freezers have the ability to keep food fresh for a maximum storage of up to 3 months. These freezers lower the temperature to a low of -18C. Some other types that reach a low of -6C have the ability to keep food fresh for a maximum period of 1 month. Depending on the period that you want to keep your food fresh, you choose the freezer that best suits your needs.

Another feature that you should keep in mind when looking for a freezer is its size. The size determines the holding capacity of the freezer. It would be wasteful if you have a freezer that is not able to hold all the foodstuffs that you want to preserve at a time.

Freezers are appliances that freezes the substances introduced to it. There are different types of freezer available. Any appliance that keeps its inside temperature below freezing point can be generally called a freezer. The most commonly found one is the fridge freezers. Most of the fridges have build in freezers.

That is generally used to freeze food items such as ice creams, meat and fish and certain medicines which are prescribed to be essentially stored in a temperature above a particular amount. Normally they maintain a temperature below the freeing point of water. The preferred temperature is about 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit or 1.7 to 3.3 degree Celsius. If it goes above may spoil too quickly. Anything lower to this will cause several freezing problems.


Freezers are not only found in fridges alone but also there are individual freezers available. They are most commonly used in places like super markets etc to store large amount of milk packets, ice creams, butter, cheese etc. it is used by export import sector in large scale for preserving easily perishable substances like fish, meat, milk products etc. furthermore, the diary industry uses it to preserve their various products.

Freezers are also used by supermarkets for keeping vegetables and fruits fresh.  It is also used in airline industry to carry food and other necessary item for the flight travel.  Several small scale industries also use it though of different types. For example it is an unavoidable factor for an ice cream making company.

Then the retail and whole sale fish and meat industry uses freezers according to their needs. An extremely different one is used by the ice factory. They are almost wholly linked to our lives that it is unimaginable to think of a life without it.
