Hotpoint have been manufacturing now for just under a century, are a home grown company founded in the United Kingdom in 1911 and are probably best known for their refrigerators and washing machines, although they do produce other models as well - and their first recognised product was actually a toaster! The company began in the early 1900s, in 1911 to be more precise and a few years on, in 1920, Hotpoint established a joint venture with a competitor, which formed the Hotpoint Electric Appliance Company Limited (HEAC) to market branded goods in the UK.
Today Hotpoint makes its washing machines at Kinmel Park on Abergele Road in a town called Bodelwyddan in Clwyd, North Wales. Last year (2007), the Hotpoint site produced approximately 800,000 washing machines and employed around 1,000 staff. The company, including Creda and Indesit, produces the largest amount of appliances in the UK and The Headquarters are in Woodston near Nene Parkway where there are around about 1,500 staff based. This site mainly manufactures fridges and freezers.
