The Liebherr family business was established in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. Refrigeration is Liebherr's speciality in the domestic appliance market and one of the features of their refrigerators that has allowed them to be so successful is BioFresh. This technology invented by Liebherr allows you to store fruit and vegetables, meat and fish and many other types of fresh foods in your fridge freezer at an optimum temperature that allows the food to stay fresh for a much longer period of time. Since BioFresh was made available, Liebherr have sold over one million units.
There are two parts to a BioFresh refrigerator from Liebherr. The first compartment, the Hydrosafe compartment, is kept at a temperature just above 0°C and is perfect for storing fruit and vegetables as despite its cool temperature, the BioFresh technology keeps the compartment at a high humidity, In contrast, the DrySafe compartment is kept at a low humidity and therefore provides the optimum storage conditions for meat, fish and dairy products.
The quality of Liebherr has been officially recognised this year. Five combined fridge freezers received the Plus X Award in two categories: Design and Ease of Use. The Plus X Award is Europe's largest technology competition and is highly regarded in the world of domestic appliances. The six models to attain the award were: the CBNes3597, which has BioFresh and NoFrost technology; the KBes4260, which is free standing with BioFresh; the SBSes7273, which is a side by side with Ice Center BioFresh and No Frost; the CBN3956, which also has BioFresh and NoFrost; and the WTEes2053 is a wine cabinet that won an award for its Design.

Liebherr is a relativly young company compared to many other cooling manufacturers. It was set up in 1949 and was named after the man who founded it, Hans Liebherr. Hans had a lot of success with his first mobile tower crane and the company continued to flourish from there. Today, Liebherr has a workforce of around 30 thousand staff in more than one hundred companies across every single continent. The headquarters is still based in Bulle, Switzerland and is to this day entirely owned by members of the Liebherr family. It is currently managed by Hans Liebherr's sons Isolde and Willy Liebherr.
